The Lakeland Association of REALTORS® (LAR) relies heavily on the expertise of our members in leadership positions to ensure that the Association is running as efficiently as possible and pursuing meaningful initiatives. We invite you to lend your expertise to the betterment of our association and industry. Below is a list of current LAR leadership volunteer opportunities.

 

Standing Committees: Standing Committees are established in the Association’s Bylaws. Only REALTOR® members may serve on standing committees.

Grievance Committee: Comprised of REALTOR® members the Grievance Committee is charged with reviewing ethics complaints and arbitration requests. The Grievance Committee acts as a “Grand Jury”. The Committee determines if, true on its face, a hearing is warranted. Members of the Grievance Committee must complete a Professional Standards Workshop every three years to be qualified to serve on the Committee. 

 

Finance Committee: The Finance Committee is charged with recommending an annual budget to the Board of Directors as well as making recommendations regarding investments.  The Association’s Treasurer serves as the Chair of the Finance Committee.


Professional Standards Committee.  Comprised of REALTORS®, the Professional Standards Committee serve as members of the Hearing Panel in both Ethics and Arbitration cases. Members of the Professional Standards Committee must complete a Professional Standards Workshop every three years to be qualified to serve on the Committee. 

 

Other Committees:         The President may appoint additional committees with the approval of the Board of Directors. Below is a list of committee that are usual and customary. Both REALTORS® and Affiliate members may serve on these committees.

REALTOR®/Affiliate Committee: The Committee’s purpose is to strengthen the Affiliate/REALTOR® relationship.

 

Community Service Committee: Plans and executes projects beneficial to the community for the purpose of creating and maintaining a positive public image for the Lakeland Association of REALTORS® and its members. 

Events Committee: The Events Committee plans and executes projects and events designed to be beneficial to the community; creates and maintains a positive public image for the Lakeland Association of REALTORS®, coordinates and arranges REALTOR® After Hours, other special functions and encourages attendance.

 

Education Committee: Plans and coordinates programs to enhance member knowledge and professionalism.

 

RPAC/RPIC: Establishes the Association as a recognized political force within the community; promotes voter registration; coordinates key contacts; monitors ordinances and legislation; keeps members aware of actions affecting the real estate industry;  arranges fundraising activities; encourages member contributions; promotes a positive political agenda at the Local, State and National levels.

 

MFRMLS Committees: LAR Members may be asked to serve on various MFRMLS Committees as positions are open. Those committees are Education, Finance, MLXchange Change Advisory Committee, Marketing, Policy, and Technology.
